New 100 Day Project - Play

My friend Sarah kicked off a 100 day project last week. It started September 23 and runs to the last day of the year. I decided to join in and use the project to tackle my scraps!

A recent (and yes still in progress!) decluttering of all my fabric uncovered several plastic bags full of scraps. My goal for these 100 days is to sort through these and sew them together to make blocks, throw them out, or put them aside for a very specific project. Whatever happens, it is about 100 day of play - sewing and playing with fabric without a goal in mind. I suspect a goal may develop over time but that isn't where I am starting.

At the end of the year, all my bags of scraps should be gone and I should have a stack of scrappy squares to be used for a new quilt or to make bags.

My goal for October is to make a whole bunch of squares! I will be linking up with One Monthly Goal hosted by Anne-Marie from Stories From the Sewing Room!

September One Monthly Goal

This is the 93rd month that I've hosted One Monthly Goal! It is also my final month. Starting in October,  Anne-Marie from Stories From the Sewing Room will be the host. (Anne-Marie and I have been co-hosting since January.)

My very first blog post as host was in November 2016 (see that post) when I picked up the hosting role from Heidi @ Red Letter Quilts. For many years, I ran the monthly link-up with sponsors and highlighted designers each month. In 2022, I stopped having sponsors (it is a lot of work to line them up) and no one seemed to mind. Turns out, joining the OMG link-up and sharing your goal is enough incentive to get something done!

I want to thank everyone who has linked up over the last 7 years. It has been great fun to see your projects and celebrate your successes with you. Now I look forward to seeing you link up with Anne-Marie.

My goal for June is to work on quilting my Magenta Pantone Fractal quilt. I've got a quilting plan that involved lots of straight lines. I started quilting using my walking foot - resulting in lots of threads to bury - but have now switched to my ruler foot. The magenta colorway is done and my plan is to have the light pink color quilted in June.

My goal for May was to start the hand quilting on this orange peel quilt. I brought it along during a family beach vacation anticipating lots of time stitching. I ended up splitting my handwork time between this and a cross-stitch project so while I started (which was my goal), I only have about 20% of the  orange peels done at this point. I do plan to do some quilting in the low volume background area too so this will become my back porch stitching project for summer.

I've decided to host OMG again for 2023 assuming there continues to be enough interest.  That said, I'd love to transition the link-up to a new host or a co-host.   Interested?

I'm making another version of the Harmony quilt - this one is machine pieced and will be a gift.  My goal for the month is to get the blocks all assembled.
