Bear in the Woods Quilt Top is complete

I just love this bear and his cute raccoon buddies.  And now they are living in a forest of their very own!

My quilt top currently measures about 38'' square.  I am torn whether I should call it done and quilt it up as a baby quilt.  At this size, I can have great fun doing some FMQing on the trees and the animals.

But I am tempted to make it a larger sized quilt perfect for the couch and keep it for myself!

Until I decide, I'm going to leave the bear hanging up in my sewing studio (my fancy term for a corner of our bonus room.)

Get the trees done and the two borders was my OMG goal (post here) for October and you can read more about the pattern source and the inspiration for the tree border on that post.

I'll be linking over at Red Letter Quilts.

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. It's adorable Patty. I know the feeling, do I keep or gift. Good luck in choosing.

  2. I am in raptures here, I am in love with your Bear in the Woods.
I would like to make one myself!
Where did you find the pattern please?

    1. I replied via email but for anyone else interested - the bear and the raccoon's came from my local quilt store - Cary Quilting Company. Pattern and kits can be purchased. ( The trees are my own and are laid down in a somewhat improv way. No pattern for that.

  3. Seriously cute, Patty! Just keep looking at it for awhile. The decision will come. I think I'd want to keep it! What fun to snuggle under on a cold winter night while watching a movie and doing some handwork. You'd feel like a grown up child! XO

  4. This is so awesome! I loved the panel you showed at the beginning of the month and it is even better surrounded by trees! Such a fun, lovely project!

  5. How adorable! I would have a hard time parting with this one. Too cute!

  6. Such a cute, cuddly quilt! I certainly understand your keep/gift dilemma! Thank you for sharing!

  7. Love this! Your bear seems to be asking - You want to keep me!? ha! such a cute idea!

  8. This is so darn cute! What a great pattern.
