Fabric Challenge - Getting Started

The MQG announced the fabric challenge for QuiltCon 2024 in Raleigh (!!!). I am excited by my design and working with these colors.

I ordered the Windham Artisan Cotton in Aqua/Blue, Red/Royal, and Apple Green/Chartreuse  and think they will look really amazing together.

Piecing has begun. I've spent several weeks quilting my Magenta Fractal quilt so it is nice to get back to piecing.

Looking ahead to quilting, does anyone know what colors of Aurifil match best to these fabrics?

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. After a lot of quilting, I'm also having fun getting back into piecing this week. I look forward to seeing how this evolves for you!

  2. Oh Raleigh! That's only a day's drive. My last one was Savannah. Maybe I'll get to do 2024, too! Your colors look great together. I don't do threads by number or color match, so I can't tell you, but take scraps to your quilt shop that sells the marvelous Aurifil and see what you can find. I'd probably look for a nice neutral that can look good across all three, if that's not against the rules.

  3. Oh, how lovely! I'm glad for you to have a plan and already begin working on your challenge. Though I have the Aurifil color card, I don't have any challenge fabric, so I'm unable to help you sort the thread colors. Actually, no one in my MQG chapter, of 62 members, is doing that challenge. I'm looking forward to watching your progress. Best wishes with it!
