The Hand Pieced QAL has ended but the pattern and tutorials all remain!

The Basics

  • Schedule: The fun starts in January, with new block tutorials each week, linkups and all the information you need to know to fall in love with hand piecing!  Never hand pieced before?  No worries. We'll share step by step tutorials, hits and tips and tell you all about our favorite notions.  There will an opportunity to win prizes in weekly link-ups as well as the final quilt-top link-up at the end of the QAL.

  • The blocks: The QAL will start with the most basic of quilt blocks (4 patches, HST, flying geese and hour glass) to establish the basics of hand-pieced construction.  The blocks that follow will build on these skills.  We will teach you step by step how to make these units and then assemble them into blocks for our quilt.
  • Quilt reveal & kick-off post: Check out all the details!  First block tutorial is Monday, January 21.  9 blocks, 2 settings and plenty of hand piecing fun!

  1. Sounds like fun. I kinda fear hand piecing, but may just give this a go.

  2. Looking forward to QAL and learning a portable quilt method. Just nervous about having the time with work, church activities, family ,downsizing to relocate and volunteering. Excited about hand piecing opportunities that await though.
