I've been working on hand quilting my hand pieced quilt from our Hand Pieced QAL.
Around the outside of the quilt in the large areas of background fabric, I've done some big stitch quilting about one inch apart in a white thread. Inside each of the blocks, I have planed to outline each of the color patches with some more big stitch quilting.
I may go back and outline the white patches too - haven't yet decided.
I am taking this process slow and enjoying every minute. You can tell where I've still got work to do based on where the pins still are!
I am using Sulky Petites (affiliate link) for the thread.
Have a wonderful day! Patty
It has a beautiful look Patty. I imagine that when I finish mine, it will take me the rest of the year to hand quilt it - lol!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! I will be attempting to hand quilt mine as well.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is very pretty. Years ago I hand pieced a rail fence quilt. I got a lot of pleasure from it. There are times still I like to sit down with a needle and thread instead of a machine.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try big stitch quilting. This will be a perfect project for me to learn. Yours looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of your big stitch quilting! Thanks for showing us what we're working toward!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful progress so far!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Are you using a lap hoop or quilting hoopless??
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteOh my...I never thought that far in advance that we'd hand quilt....oh my. Yours looks great.
ReplyDeleteYours is looking great. I fear for what my hand quilting will look like. A true learning experience for sure.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love the look of those big stitches.
ReplyDeletePatty, it's lovely!!! Well done. Thanks so much for sharing your progress with us. Because of this QAL I have taken the plunge and started to try hand piecing and hand quilting. Kristin's YouTubes have been extremely helpful. I'm so grateful to you both for this opportunity to start off on a new adventure.
