I absolutely love how rich and saturated the colors are. My local quilt store - Cary Quilting Company - will nicely sell you fabrics by the inch so I purchased 6'' of each of the colorways.
I brought the project on my recent guild retreat and made 33 blocks. It was really cheerful to sew these blocks with those fabrics.
Now, to decide on my layout. This is what I am thinking about - I mocked it up in EQ7 but didn't spend the time distributing all the colors. As drawn, this quilt will be 62 x 64''.
Right now, the blocks sit on the floor of my daughter's room while she is off at college. Each time I walk by her room, I stop and adjust my color layout!
I guess I do need to decide which direction these arrow head like blocks are pointing. Looking at the picture, I see it is different than I had planned!
I'll be linking up my project with Freemotion by the River, WIP Wednesday's, Let's Bee Social, Midweek Makers. Needle and Thread Thursdays, Finish it Up Friday and Finished or Not Friday.
Have a wonderful day! Patty
This is going to be beautiful! Love all the colors against the gray! You're making me want Sun Prints 2018.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in this line too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun, bright quilt this is going to make! I'd be really tempted to put all but one block facing the same direction, but I'm odd like that. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I love these fabrics. Nice to see them with the medium grey, which is not my go to. I don't know, make some "the other way" as a subtle protest quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and bright!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are making good progress. Best of luck with getting the blocks just the way you want them!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, this is going to be gorgeous! You have such keen vision!
ReplyDeleteThose colors are just stunning. Can't wait to see the finish on this one.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! Can't wait to see how you decide to put them together. No matter what, it will be stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics. The blocks are looking great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool way to use those beautiful brights!
ReplyDeleteI am late to the party - just checking all my accumulated blog posts :) But still wanted to tell you that I also love the idea of the mock up - with just a rainbow corner and one main other color group. Looks very modern - as your full rainbow design does as well - love the offset and all the negative space!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a fat quarter of Sunprint 2020. I wasn't supposed to buy any more fabric but the colors were too beautiful to resist. I love this quilt and want to make one to donate. Wondering what size blocks you used. Thanks! Glenda
ReplyDeleteLucky you! Each 'arrow' block was 4 1/2'' unfinished. Easy math!
DeleteThanks!
