Fibonacci Blanket Update 2

My side panel is done!  

This is panel 2 of 3.  The center panel measures 55" long and about 15" wide (70 stitches) while the newly completed side panel measures 20" wide (92 stitches).  The top and the bottom have a couple of rows of K2 P1 ribbing and the side panel start with 5 stitches of ribbing on one side.

There are two ways I can join the two panels together using the mattress stitch.  The first is to align the stripes.

The second is to flip the center panel. 

I like the version where the stipes align so my final panel will match the color distribution of the panel just finished with the ribbing on the opposite side.   (Putting the ribbing on the side really makes a difference in controlling how well the panels lay flat.)

The colors are following a pattern - dark gray to blue to light gray to white to light gray to blue to dark gray - and the width of the strip follows the Fibonacci series, namely 1", 2", 3", 5",  and 8".  I am using Berroco cotton yarn in color ways Waterman (1685), Tiverton (1623), Gadwall (1608) and Bluffs (1600).  The yarn is wonderful to use and the knitted piece is very soft! (affiliate link)   

I've really enjoyed my knitting project!  Knitting a blanket in panels means it doesn't take too long to finish a row and it is very portable!  I've taken my knitting to guild meetings, coffee with friends, and spent many an evening knitting while watching t.v.
