Cardinal

We got 6'' of snow on Wednesday - wet, heavy snow.  The next day against the backdrop of snow covered trees, sunshine and a beautiful Carolina blue sky, I took photos of my latest quilt finish.  (Doesn't everyone?)

I'm calling this mini Cardinal.

The mini is 15'' square and used red charm square scraps that I've been collecting.  I paper pieced the stars (they are 4'' finished) but they could have easily been traditionally pieced.

I did some walking foot quilting in a grid - first time I've done a grid!

I just love the light gray polka dot print that the stars are set in.

The pattern is an adaptation of Hometown Mini and will be part of the Minis & More link-up here and here.

I'll be linking up my finish (#3 for 2018) with  Freemotion by the River,   WIP Wednesday's,  Let's Bee SocialMidweek Makers.  Needle and Thread Thursdays, Finish it Up Friday and Finished or Not Friday.

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  2. Very cute in a beautiful setting. The snow really sets off the reds. Grid quilting is my favorite.

  4. The quilt is beautiful and bright against all the snow. Cross-hatch and grid quilting is something I have been enjoying more and more myself lately. Congratulations on the lovely finish!

  6. There's nothing prettier that seeing a cardinal in the snowy trees in the Winter but I sure love seeing your mini quilt in the tree. It's looks perfect there; maybe a tree branch quilt hanger for it?
