Holding onto Summer

I recently turned two stitching ufo's into mini quilts, each finishing about 8 x 11 (give or take).

I debated how to quilt for awhile but I just love the texture straight line quilting gives a small piece so I went with my old standby.

I downloaded the stitching pattern for this crop of flowers from somewhere but seem to have misplaced both the download and the sheet so I can't give proper credit.  Anyone recognize?  Please leave in comments and I'll update.

While the leaves got a bit monotonous, the bee and it's flight path along with the flowers were fun!

The applique pattern for the flowers came from the Splendid Sampler bonus blocks (here).  I tried my hand at hand raw edge applique for this one just because I wanted a bit of hand work to do after I had fused it down.  Would choose needle turned the next time.

I gifted these last week - one to my mom to wish her a get well and another to one of my sisters as a thank you.

  9. oh they are adorable, especially the bee - it reminds me of the children's rhyme: "What do you suppose? A bee sat on my nose! He said "I beg your pardon, I thought you were the garden"" :)
