Quilts for summer

July means summer.  Temperatures and humidity remain high here in central North Carolina so it is time to pull out all my summer themed quilts to decorate the house.

Sandcastle celebrates the beach and family trips when the kids were younger and building the best sandcastle was the prime activity of the day.  (Pattern available here.)

Our annual trip to the NC Outer Banks isn't until August this year.  Until then, I'll just have to enjoy the various lighthouse quilts I've created over time.  I really love the NC lighthouses!

This one is a mini and finishes roughly 6'' tall.  You can find the pattern here.

This is a table runner  to celebrate all the wonder that is North Carolina, including the Cape Hatteras lighthouse!    Pattern available here.

And yet another table runner with lighthouses!

I even created a large rounded bag with four of the great lighthouses decorated the sides.

With all of these beach themed quilted items decorating the house, it is also time to pull out my 4th of July wall hanging.  Tutorial available here.

Skill Builder QAL - Courthouse Steps

Hurrah!  It is month 6 in Fat Quarter Shop's Bella Skill Builder QAL.     You can find the pattern and a video tutorial for this month's Courthouse Steps here.




My favorite thing about this QAL is the opportunity to try blocks I've never made before.  Pineapple blocks, orange peels and now courthouse steps!

I played with two favorite color combinations with these blocks.

I am partial to the blue ones myself.

One Monthly Goal - July Goal Setting Link-up

My goal for July is to stay on track with my #100Days100Blocks2017 QAL.  The last block is scheduled for August 14 and I'd like to exit the month of July a bit ahead of the game because I've got some travel in early August.
