My Bucket Hat

For reasons I can't really explain, I've been wanting to make a bucket hat to enjoy this summer.  While I'd been bookmarking tutorials and patterns for a bit, this tutorial from Sweet Red Poppy caught my eye and I decided to give it a go!

Choosing the fabric almost took longer than making the hat.  I wanted a solid on one side and a print on the other but I didn't want to cut into my very special fabric in case it didn't turn out.  After much fun going through my stash, I happened upon a large scrap from fabric I used for a quilt back years ago.  It was perfect!  And I has a light orange creamsicle solid that matched perfectly.

My youngest liked it so much that they want one for their very own!  Time to go stash shopping again!

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. Your new hat turned out brilliantly. It's always nice when our kids like what we make and ask for one too :)

  3. Great fabric choice and a nice looking design - I'm not surprised it was quickly claimed by your youngest!

  4. Your hat looks great! I've been wanting a bucket hat too, but haven't found one I liked. I guess it's time for me to think about making one. Love the print on yours!

  5. It's so fun! And it was a treat to make too, wasn't it? I made a reversible bucket hat a couple years ago, using a free Mr. Domestic pattern on the Brother USA blog. The styles are very similar. Enjoy wearing yours. I don't wear mine often because it blows off when I'm in the golf cart!

  7. Your bucket hat looks great. What weight of interfacing did you use?
