Hand Pieced Blue

I made a second set of blocks along with all the lovely people participating in the Hand Pieced QAL.  I am really loving the blue and white.

With my center pieced, I'm auditioning settings in EQ7.

The first two make use of the fabric I have on hand, the third one requires a fabric purchase!

Option 1 - set the blocks with asymmetrical borders - this is a 5" on top and right and a 2" on the left and bottom.  The quilt would finish roughly 27'' square.

This second one is my least favorite.  The quilt would finish about 24'' square - perhaps an option if I decide to make this a pillow.

My third option  (ignore the fact that the blocks are set differently) matches the on-point setting I used in my first version of the quilt.  This quilt would measure 32'' square.

While I play around with layouts, I've put my blocks up on my design wall - so fun to look at.  It is also fun to look at the back side of my project.  I love how easy it is to spin seams on hand pieced blocks!

These blocks were seriously so much fun to do.  Finished quilt top are popping up on are final grand prize link-up.  Folks have to the end of April to get their quilt tops done!

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. I love the blues and the asymmetrical setting. I am impressed you've made two sets, since I struggled with one - lol! I'm getting about one block per night hand quilted, and although my hand quilting is not stellar, somehow it looks just fine. ;)

  2. Patty, your two color version is just beautiful! It makes me want to start at the beginning and make another one! Thank you again for offering all these pretty blocks for us to learn on. I've enjoyed it so much!

  3. It looks great in a two tone colorway. I'm drawn to the setting with the fabric you have on hand and the offset borders, but I like the idea of it being a bit larger set on point, too. I'll be curious to see which you choose!

  4. How pretty! I love the blue with the white. That first layout, the asymmetrical one, I like the best along with the on-point one. Looking forward to seeing what you choose.

  5. I love this blue and white version!!!!! How pretty!

  6. Your 2 colour version is very striking!
I'm slowly working away on mine. I am deciding about a border also.

  7. The blue background is awesome. I'm partial to the on point setting.

Thanks for visiting Elm Street Quilts. Looking forward to hearing from you!
