Deck the Halls

We've been having quite the warm fall here in North Carolina.  The mornings are chilly but things warm up into the 60s in the afternoon sunshine.

Now that Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) is past, it is time to pull out the Christmas decorations.  I got the outside lights up yesterday (note to self - take that pumpkin off the front porch) and today I'll start some indoor decorating by pulling out the Christmas quilts.

Every year, I make something new.  My new mini for this year is this cute ornament table runner.   There are many patterns for ornaments around - I didn't use a specific pattern but just based it on a smaller version I'd made previously.

Each ornament is 4 '' finished and leftover charms were perfect.  Organic wavy lines for the finish - I just love it!

I used some of the same fabric last year in my Forest quilt (tutorial on Amy's blog Dairy of a Quilter.)

I just love that quilt.  I've plenty of Christmas fabric - maybe I ought to make a larger version and have something ready to go for next year?

Next up - priority shifts to gift making!  More on that soon.

I'll be linking up my quilt with  Freemotion by the River,   WIP Wednesday's,  Let's Bee SocialMidweek Makers.  Needle and Thread Thursdays, Finish it Up Friday and Finished or Not Friday.

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. Oh, cute cute!! Yes, you should work on a full size one for next year. I am ready for it to get colder too. We are supposed to have a colder December in the mountain areas.

  2. Those are both adorable, Patty ... I was just organizing the Rubbermaid containers in my dungeon fabric area, and thought to myself that I should really start seasonal items several months in advance, instead of waiting until the last minute then wringing my hands because there isn't time :D I have a major project planned for Halloween (small, but labour intensive) that I would dearly love to have done for next year, and I have a lot of Christmas scraps that would work well for some pretty items like yours. I need to get things kitted ready to work on, so when the mood hits, I can grab a project and get right to work. I'm looking forward to seeing your gift making endeavours - I just went through my sewing gift list to see what I need to get done first, and will be making a simple wallet for a 2 year old to get things started - I can't wait to start crossing things off of the To Do list, lol.

  10. I was planning to make a runner of those trees this week but seeing your ornaments I'm now rethinking that. Maybe I'll try to make both! Your Christmas fabrics for these are just perfect.

  11. Very cute runner. An ornament quilt is on my bucket list for some day when the UFO list isn't so long.
