Summer has arrived! The pool is open and my daily walk has shifted to be a daily swim.
To carry my things each day, I assembled a quick bag using my Market Basket tutorial. The outside is 'vegan' leather and the inside is a canvas print from Spoonflower. The vegan leather was purchased from our guild members destash sale and the canvas print was a freebie.
The bag measures 11" x 4" x 9 1/2" and was as big as I could make it with the supplies I had. I didn't have enough of the canvas print for the inside pocket so went with a solid. The bag has a reasonable amount of structure - it will stand up on its own - but might have been better if there were some interfacing.
It was a fun and quick project. Goggles at the ready, you can find me at the pool.
The bag looks like the perfect companion for the summer. Enjoy your pool time!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice bag, Patty! I've used vegan leather too, to make my favorite wristlet pattern. The leather is nice for stability, but can require a little extra attention when feeding it through the sewing machine. I used tissue paper to keep it feeding under the presser foot. It's great that you can swim daily. I never learned to swim properly when I was a youngster, and only know how to "survive" after taking a Red Cross swimming course when I was in my twenties. I admire those who know how to swim for exercise, as it's such a great way to stay in shape without hurting joints. You'll be heading to the pool in style, carrying that posh bag!
