What fun I had this past Saturday, sewing away with fellow guild members while it rained outside. We were all taking a workshop from another guild member - Charles @feltlikesweets - on his Tilted Tiles pattern. The pattern is available to MQG members and Charles is teaching the class at QuiltCon.
The workshop was 4 hours long and held via Zoom. While the quilt pattern uses 7 different fabrics, we worked with 4 different fabrics in the workshop with the choice of making either a small quilt or table runner.
Pieces were cut ahead of time and I decided to downsize my piece so did a bit of quilt math (which actually worked!) and labeled everything the day before.
I knowingly ignored the advise to construct a palette with a strong mix of values and went with a riot of color.
Still playing with layouts, here are some that I am considering. My wall hanging would be 18" x 18".
Or maybe this one.
Or this one which wouldn't be quite square.
For now, the blocks are hanging out on my floor (design wall is full) but I hope to sew them together this week.
Looks like you had a lot of fun, both in the block creation and consideration of layout. I look forward to seeing which option you choose!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to hear how Charles approached teaching Tilted Tiles in a workshop. He limited your project was by colors and size. Well, I get that. It would be very difficult to teach the large TT version in a workshop. So did he have you do any "shifting," as he explains in the full-size version? I really like the colors you chose. They're different; muted values. I know that whatever layout you settle on, it will be great.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like pure fun! I like the brightness, and you know best what you like.
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the class at QuiltCon. Hope you had lots of fun! I am already looking forward to it, though I was hoping to start in the class and then finish the full size at home... guess I will have to read more of the details... xo
ReplyDeleteThat is SO cool!
