The MQG's 2022 Make a Difference Challenge prompt is oceans and the challenge will benefit Oceana - a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the world's oceans on a global scale. The deadline to submit a quilt is early August.
My family spends a week each summer at a NC beach and my favorite thing to do is to sit and watch and listen to the waves.
For this challenge, I considered a bunch of different ideas including a more abstract quilt but decided to focus on a sketched wave coloring book style.
I worked with a bunch of scraps and just layered bits of color on using raw edge applique until I found something I liked.
Not sure where this quilting is taking me but I'm enjoying it so far. I may just call this mini Surf's Up!
The challenge in 2021 was trees and I entered a mini Three.
Good for you to enter this challenge! I like your "splash" and the colors you used. Of course, your hand stitching makes it especially lovely. I wish you the best with this entry!
