Koala Project

The koalas are coming!

A few years ago, a family friend commissioned me to make a baby quilt.  He chose the Delightful Desert pattern by Elizabeth Harman.  I had such fun putting that quilt together and was excited when he asked for another baby quilt for his new niece.  After some back and forth, he's chosen the Koala pattern!

We decided to stick with the fabrics used in the sample quilt which include these beautiful Manchester fabrics.  I've got some solids in my stash that will work for the ears, leaves, and tree trunk.

I'm going for a 4 koala layout for a 42'' square quilt.  The first one was so much fun to assemble that I jumped right into the second one.  That sweet face is hanging up on my design wall right now!

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. What a delightful quilt that is going to be. How is the Manchester to work with?

  3. I love these patterns, did one for each of my grandnieces. I like that your customer is doing a similar thing. This will be gorgeous.

  4. OH MY GOSH I am in love with this pattern!!! These koalas remind me of the little plush squeeze/clip-on toys we collected in the early 1980s. I vaguely remember that there was a steak restaurant my parents took us to sometimes that would clip one of these to the straw on your drink with every kids' meal and them my sisters and I would trade if we were given a duplicate. At home, we clipped them along the edges of our vanity mirror, or we'd clip one to the end of our pencil at school. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
