Last year, I set out to hand piece 100 drunkards path blocks as part of the 100 day project. (I'm doing 100 days of hand quilting this year.)
Once the blocks were set, I started hand quilting using 12 wt thread choosing colors that matched the fabric. I worked on this for awhile and then put it aside because I wasn't enjoying the process.
I also wasn't happy with the texture.
So I ripped out the hand quilting and decided to quilt using the walking foot on my machine. I love the results!
As you might remember, I also ripped out the hand quilting on my table runner and replaced it with walking foot quilting.
For what its worth, I do like do do some hand quilting - see a photo of my hand pieced and hand quilted Perfectly Imperfect quilt or on this year's 100 day project
This quilt finishes at 38'' x 38''. It will hang in my sewing space.
Have a wonderful day!
Patty
I love this setting and the finish is beautiful...nice work ;)))

Patty, I like both versions but I've also done major rip-outs when something didn't suit me. It's better than losing interest in a project and relegating it to the UFO pile. I really like your design, regardless of how it's quilted.
ReplyDeletePatty that is so pretty, I really like the straight line quilting as it lets the fabric and design shine.
ReplyDeleteYour 100 Day project finish is really beautiful! I'm glad you found a quilting plan that felt right - that's always a big decision!
ReplyDeleteIt is important that you do what makes you happy and love your work. You spend too much time not to be pleased when it is done. It looks lovely, congrats on the finish.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you changed it up; knowing when something isn't working for us is just as important as knowing when it is. I like the movement of the piecing and how the quilting reinforces that. Congratulations on the finish!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty quilt. If something isn't working for me I always pull it out. Your quilting looks really good.
ReplyDeleteSometimes stuff just doesn't work and you have to regroup. The finished quilt is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a beautiful quilt, and I love how it turns!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great. Love the bright colours.
