Bloggers Quilt Festival - Oh My Darling

Its that time of year again - time for the Bloggers Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side.  (See my other entry).

It is fun to revisit quilts finished since the last festival and pick two favorites to share.  (To my regular readers, you just saw some photos of this one!  Thanks for patiently looking at them again.)

This quilt is called "Oh My Darling" - blocks created as part of Fat Quarter Shop's Clementine QAL.  I went with an alternative setting and love the way it turned out.

The quilt was gifted to my daughter in honor of her very first apartment, shared with her friend for their junior year in college.  The goal was for it to be on their couch.  I suspect it is just as often on the floor but hopefully getting used and enjoyed!

Leftover blocks were placed on the back.  I love the way it looked but this did make the quilting process a bit more challenging!

To quilt, I did straight line quilting with my walking foot on the diagonal, leaving three gaps (roughly 5'' wide) that I filled with one continuous feather.  This is probably the third time I've quilted this way.  I really like the way it looks and the whole process.

 The quilt measures 68 x 68 ''.

"Oh, my darling... oh, my darling,...oh my darling Clementine...."

See all the beautiful quilts and enter your own at Amy's Creative Side Bloggers Quilt Festival!

I'm also linking up at a new link-up Brag about Your Beauties.

Have a wonderful day! Patty

  1. What a fun quilt, I love the way you set your blocks! I've had terrible issues with quilting when both the top and back are pieced, so don't use my extra blocks on the back anymore. Someday they're all going to end up in an extra-scrappy quilt.

  3. It is a lot of fun to get to see special quilts featured again in the festival, and getting to share 2 you made for your daughters feels perfect. I like the extra blocks on the back and I do imagine the quilt is getting a lot of use one way or the other. :)

  6. So lovely for your daughter! I love how you pieced the backing, also. I have started to pieced some of my backings and they really add a little something to your handmade quilt.

  16. There are so many things to like about this quilt, Patty -- the palette, the arrangement of blocks, the pieced backing. I'm a die-hard straight-line quilter, and the idea of breaking up the lines with some FMQ as you did is brilliant!
